Uganda finishes in 3rd position

Uganda, Africa's flag bearer at the 3rd World University Woodball Championship has finished thrid overall in the world eies and menvent that concluded today at Commonwealth Resort hotel, Munyonyo, Kampala.

Uganda scooped three bronze medals in the men's doubles of Barigeya Said and Peter Etelu and the ladies and men team categories at the 4-day championship.

In the team event Uganda scored a total of 1032 strokes in the women category to grab bronze medal behind winners and defending champions Chinese Taipei who scored 890 strokes and second placed Hong kong who registered 1032 strokes.

Uganda was again on the mark in the men's team event taking home a bronze medal recording 985 strokes while gold medallists chinese taipei took home gold with 914 strokes and silver by Hong Kong with 985 strokes while sudan finished 4th overall with 1338 strokes.

Uganda was the lone country in Africa that qualified to play in the finals.

In another development, Uganda will host the Uganda Open as an International Woodball Federation (IWbF) ranking World Tour event at Munyonyo tomorrow August 17.

The world's third ranked Tsai Meng hung (62.5pts) who won the 3rd world university kampala event alongside the 5th world ranked Ng Cho Kwan with 79pts and 7th ranked Wong Nga Chun boasting of 72 points, will all compete in the Uganda Open due tomorrow starting at 9.00am.
